The End of the Line

The End of the Line

          • - Room set-up really suited the story
          • - Atmosphere was the perfect level of eerieness

          • - Some puzzles were unnecessarily complicated

(PLEASE NOTE: This room has been retired as of February 2016)

I’m going to start off by saying that I went into this room with extremely high expectations. A few of my friends told me that I had to try this place, especially this particular room. So keep that in mind as you read my review, as you may feel differently if you don’t approach it with such high expectations.

Let’s start off with what I liked about it. I really liked the room design, from the set-up to the lighting. The story takes place in an abandoned subway tunnel, and you do feel as though that’s where you are. While there were no scary props in the room, there was a definite sense of eerieness. No complaints here!

While the puzzles did flow well from one to the next, the group that I went with (which was not the E4G team) felt that some puzzles could be improved. One of the puzzles was good, but seemed to have no relation to the story. And then there was one puzzle that we felt was made unnecessarily difficult. This is hard to explain, but it felt that the puzzle was overloaded, but didn’t really test problem solving skills. The rest of the puzzles were fine.

One other thing that kind of left a bad taste in our mouth was one of the staff members. The staff that we dealt with during booking and check-in were friendly and courteous. However, while we were playing and asked for hints, the staff member that came in to help us seemed to be rather annoyed at something, and was not quite so nice.

For those who are interested in this room, I’d recommend it for intermediate-level players. Although this was not an experience that I’d rave about, I’ll likely go back to Escape Games to give them another chance.
