(NOTE: This game has now been converted to Project Sphere)

We had the fortune of playing Mysterious Study when it was just one week old, meaning both equipment and furniture were in almost new condition. The décor was excellent – very relevant to the theme – and definitely gave the room an air of mystery.  Being the geek that I am, I was rather impressed by the use of technology in this room! The timing and amount of technology used was just right, and greatly enhanced the overall gaming experience.

Currently, Mysterious Study is Omescape’s easiest room, but don’t let that turn you off if you’re looking for a challenge. While it’s a great room for beginners, more experienced players will be adequately challenged as well, especially if you want the Elite Escaper title that is granted to those who don’t use any hints. It is definitely a fun room for all! The puzzles are well-organized, such that you’re truly using your time to problem-solve, and it’s always clear what your next step is. That doesn’t mean that there aren’t things in the room to throw you off, but we felt it was a fair amount.

When we played, there was a minor issue with one of the puzzles, but the staff notified us via walkie-talkie as soon as they saw it, so it didn’t cause too much of a problem. As mentioned in the Cons section above, there is a potential issue for big-framed people to complete one of the puzzles. It’s not impossible, but it does make it more difficult. All in all, I really have nothing bad to say about this room. I enjoyed every minute and for now, it’s definitely one of my favourites!
